PICK OF TH DAY
Liverpool - Roma
Tip : GG&3+ (both to score and over 2.5)
Odd: 2.00
FT : 5:2 WIN!!!
Liverpool were never expected to make it this
r in the Champions League, especially after they opened the campaign with two draws in against Sevilla and Spartak Moscow in the group stages. They have only improved since then though, and their quarter final tie against Manchester City can be seen as a huge step forward for the club.
They beat the Premier League champions in both legs, including a crushing 3-0 win at Anfield to put them on the front foot for their trip to The Etihad. After seeing off arguably one of the best football teams in the world right now they will rightly feel confident about their chances in this semi-final tie.
Jurgen Klopp opted to rest a number of key figures for their trip to West Brom on Saturday. They have a top four spot all but wrapped up now, and while they are in a battle for 2nd place with Manchester United the Champions League takes all priority right now. Roberto Firmino, Andy Robertson, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dejan Lovren, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain were all left out of the starting lineup in that 2-2 draw against The Baggies.
One man who wasn’t left out was the Golden Boot chasing Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian found the net yet again for Liverpool to make it 31 league goals for the season, and he has replicated that form in the Champions League too. Salah has eight goals in 10 appearances in the competition and has scored in four of their last five matches in the Champions League, so we’re backing him to find the net against his former club on Tuesday.
Roma shouldn’t be underestimated though. The visitors came back from a three goal deficit against Barcelona to make it to this stage in the competition, and since then they have drawn away to Lazio and beaten Genoa and SPAL in Serie A. Most impressive is the fact that they managed to put three past Barcelona without reply, although it’s worth noting that they shipped four against them at the Camp Nou.
Anfield has been the setting for a fair few goals this season, and most of them have come for the hosts. They have scored 34 goals in their last 12 competitive games there, scoring at least two goals in 11 of these matches. However, they’re facing a Roma side who have only failed to score in one of their last 11 trips away in all competitions and in all of their Champions League away days this season, including a three goal haul at Stamford Bridge.
Clean sheets could be at a premium on Tuesday, and given the fact that ten of the hosts’ last 12 home games have seen at least three goals as well we’re backing Over 2.5 Goals and Both Teams to Score. Roma have lost their last three trips away in the competition though, so we’re also going for a Liverpool Win and Both Teams to Score alongside a 3-1 correct score predictions.
