PICK OF THE DAY
Watford - West Hem
Tip : GG (both to score)
Odd : 1.70
FT : 2:0 Lost
Watford made a flying start to the Premier League campaign under new boss Marco Silva, but they’ve hit a bit of a stumbling block in the last month or so and find themselves trying to break out of a losing streak. Their 3-2 loss at the out of form Everton before the international break made it three defeats on the bounce, and whilst they have been hampered by a growing injury list, that defeat following their 1-0 home loss to Stoke is a massive disappointment.
Now they come up against former Everton and Manchester United manager David Moyes as he looks to turn West Ham’s fortunes around. This will be his first match in charge of his new club, and he will definitely be hoping for a lift in performance following a dreadful start to the campaign. Last time out they lost 4-1 at home to Liverpool, a result which finally brought the axe down on Slaven Bilic. They have now won two, drawn two, and lost two of their last six outings in all competitions, including a stunning 3-2 win over Spurs in the League Cup.
It’s undoubtedly their defensive issues that have them struggling this season. They have conceded a league high 23 goals in their 11 games, but have found the net 11 times themselves and have scored in seven of their last eight in all competitions.
Meanwhile, The Hornets have scored in six of their last eight outings but have only managed one clean sheet. The hosts have seen a total of 38 goals in their league matches so far this season, and West Ham have seen 34 so we could well be in for a thriller here. Considering both sides’ terrible defensive records, backing Both Teams to Score looks a great choice here.
We do think West Ham have a chance here. Watford are on a three match losing streak, and whilst they did impress at the start of the season, they are yet to perform at Vicarage Road. Just one of their five league games at home has ended in victory, whilst West Ham have only lost three of their eight away games in all competitions. We’re opting for a West Ham Win or Draw Double Chance, alongside a 2-2 correct score predictions.
Andre Ayew is the man to watch for West Ham, especially with the likes of Javier Hernandez and Michail Antonio doubtful through injury. The forward has scored three goals in his last three games in all competitions, so backing him to find the net could be a good move.
